1. Who we are
Circle360 is operated by Circle360 Technologies Ltd., based in Lagos, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@circle360.app.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your name, phone number and/or email address, and a profile photo or avatar if you choose to add one.
- Circle & contacts — the circles you create or join, the members you connect with, and saved places (such as "Home" or "School") you choose to add.
- Content you submit — community safety alerts, incident reports, reactions, and vehicle plate numbers you add to a watchlist.
Information collected automatically
- Precise location — when you enable location sharing, we process your device's GPS location (including in the background) so your circle can see where you are, to detect arrivals and departures from safe zones, and to power drive detection and SOS. You control this at any time (see "Your choices").
- Device & technical data — device model, operating system, app version, a push-notification (FCM) token, battery level and movement/driving state used for safety features.
- Usage & diagnostics — how you use the app and crash/performance data, so we can fix problems and improve the product.
3. How we use your information
- To provide location sharing, safe zones, arrival alerts, SOS and other features.
- To deliver community safety alerts relevant to your area.
- To send notifications you've asked for (e.g. a member arriving, an SOS, an alert nearby).
- To operate subscriptions and process in-app purchases through the app stores.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- To understand usage and improve the app.
4. Legal basis
Where the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and other applicable laws require a legal basis, we rely on your consent (for example, to share precise location), the performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (to keep the service safe and improve it), and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time.
5. How we share information
- With your circle — members of a circle can see the location, status and content you choose to share with them. Community alerts you submit may be visible to other users near the relevant area.
- Service providers — we use trusted providers to run Circle360, including cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services), authentication and push messaging (Google Firebase), subscription management (RevenueCat), product analytics (PostHog) and mapping/routing providers. They process data only on our instructions.
- Legal & safety — we may disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users or the public.
- Business transfers — if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your data may be transferred, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
Some of our providers process data outside Nigeria. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection as required by applicable law.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. See our Account & Data Deletion page.
8. Security
We use technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and secure cloud infrastructure — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and continuously improve our safeguards.
9. Children's privacy
Circle360 is intended for use by families. Children may be included in a family circle only by a parent or legal guardian who sets up and consents to that child's participation. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate parental consent. If you believe a child's data has been collected improperly, contact us and we will promptly address it. See our Child Safety Standards.
10. Your choices & rights
- Location — turn location sharing on or off in the app, and manage precise/background location permissions in your device settings at any time.
- Notifications — manage push notifications in the app and your device settings.
- Access, correction & deletion — you can access and update your profile in the app, and delete your account and data at any time.
- Objection & portability — subject to applicable law, you may object to certain processing or request a copy of your data.
To exercise any right, email privacy@circle360.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of Circle360 after an update means you accept the revised policy.
